Books I Read In 2014

Read a couple of Bill Gates' blog posts here where in one article he shares the books he's read this fabulous 2014. Well, I also did have a fabulous 2014 myself, and also read a couple of expanding books, all of which was purchased during my short visit to Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the UAE late in May as follows:
  1. The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth by John C. Maxwell
  2. Count Your Blessings by Dr. John Demartini
  3. Sometimes You Win, Sometimes You Learn by John C. Maxwell
I highly recommend them for your own benefit. Why? The theme of these books by some of my favorite personal development authors is centered on the subjects of learning and failure.

As some of us may already know, the traditional education most of us went through deprived us of the massive benefits of these in all areas of life. In school we were taught not to make mistakes. And if you make a mistake, you're stupid. Right or right?

Here's one rare exception. A high school teacher I had in my sophomore year always starts a lecture on learning. It wasn't so clear to me at that time, but as I look back at my experiences, I can definitely say that these subjects are not only profitable (to your bank account) but most importantly, it expands your mind in many surprising ways: the way we see the world of our failures, the things we thought we knew about failure, and the many ways and angles these ideas may be viewed by different people.

Believe me it can't be all about embarrassment and pain and regret. Some of those we call setbacks may also be God's way of sending us to the places that can be good for us, If you know what blessings in disguise mean. What matters in my opinion is what can be picked up by close investigation: the truth that awaits us to accept on the other side, discoveries we make of the things that no longer serve us, and how things can be made better and simpler by simply changing the way we perceive things.

Looking forward to more tasty reads in 2015!
